Walmart's drone delivery service declares war on Amazon with 1 million packages shipped every year!

It is learned that retail giant Walmart is not willing to lag behind in innovation and continues to expand its drone delivery service to declare war on Amazon.

Walmart has launched drone delivery services in Arizona, Florida and Texas in the United States, with the goal of building a drone delivery capacity of 1 million items per year.

The DroneUpWalmart service is part of the company's expansion plan, which focuses on providing drone delivery services. According to data released by Walmart, its drone service will cover six states, four million households will be within the coverage of the service, and the other three states are Arkansas, Utah and Virginia. A total of 34 Walmart stores in 23 cities will use drones for delivery.

DroneUp has launched three fulfillment centers at Walmart stores in northwest Arkansas. Customers within a mile of participating stores (four in the Phoenix area, seven in Tampa and Orlando, and 11 in the Dallas area) can use the service.

The store that offers this service has a DroneUp delivery center, which includes a team of certified pilots who safely manage the flight operations for the deliveries. After a customer places an order, the items are picked in the store, packed, loaded onto the drone, and then delivered directly to the consumer's yard via a cable that gently drops the package.

According to Walmart, “drones can deliver more than 10,000 items weighing less than 10 pounds (4.5 kg) in just 30 minutes, including fragile items like eggs. There is no minimum order limit and the delivery fee is just $3.99.

Vik Gopalakrishnan, vice president of innovation and automation at Walmart, said: "Drone delivery allows our customers to easily buy urgent products or forgotten items, and the package is very tight."
