Another batch of big sellers were closed! Just now, the pre-Prime Day cleanup began...

The aftermath of the store closures at the end of May has not yet ended, and the wave of store closures in mid-June has hit again. On the eve of Prime Day, Amazon has taken real action against China’s top sellers!

Another batch of big sellers were closed

In the afternoon, a seller revealed that a group of well-known big sellers' links had turned into dogs, including well-known big sellers of Ze* (Taotroni*s, VA*A, RAVPow*r), projector big seller vank** and other brands.

Being blocked on the eve of Prime Day has far-reaching consequences! The reason for the blockage seems to be related to the "after-sales card review invitation"!

The Wall Street Journal recently published a report on Amazon sellers’ “after-sales card review invitation” . The case in the report stated:

A buyer was recently very interested in a certain brand of fast charging that had over 9,800 reviews. Although the buyer felt the reviews were suspicious, he still placed an order.

But when the product arrived, there was an orange "review invitation card" inside, suggesting that the product could be obtained at half price. The buyer only needed the order ID and the review URL!

After the incident was exposed, the brand said: "We want to see how much people like it. The company does not force customers to leave five stars to receive gift cards."

However, this statement did not gain official recognition. An Amazon spokesperson said that such inserted content violated the platform's policy and the platform strictly prohibits sellers from providing financial incentives for reviews.

In addition, Amazon officially released an open letter titled "Creating a Trustworthy Customer Review Experience" on the afternoon of June 16, reiterating its determination to crack down on false reviews.

The open letter stated:

In 2020, we stopped more than 200 million suspected fake reviews before customers saw them, with more than 99% of them removed through proactive monitoring. In addition to removing these reviews, we block accounts that post fake reviews from submitting further reviews and take action against seller accounts that use fake reviews for commercial gain. We take action to stop fake reviews no matter the size of the bad actors’ business or where in the world they are located.

As we continue to improve our ability to detect fake reviews and the accounts associated with them, we are also seeing more bad actors trying to solicit fake reviews outside of Amazon, particularly through social media. Some bad actors solicit fake reviews themselves through social media, while others hire third-party service providers to do so.

When we detect false reviews outside of Amazon, we regularly communicate with social media companies about bad behavior occurring on their platforms.

It can be seen that the letter clearly puts forward two points:

1. Amazon will actively monitor fake reviews through both technical and manual means; monitoring channels include both on-site and off-site aspects; monitoring dimensions include buyer accounts, seller accounts, products and brands;

2. Treat bad actors equally, regardless of size or location; and hold fake reviewers and service providers who provide fake reviews accountable;

The original text of this open letter from Amazon is extremely sincere and resolute. Through analyzing between the lines, seller evaluation and invitation will face unprecedented challenges for a long time to come!

As cross-border sellers, we can also deeply feel that since the beginning of last year, the difficulty of inviting reviews has increased sharply. Personally, I think the reasons are firstly the needs of the platform ecology and secondly the continuous pressure from international public opinion!

At the end of last year, the news that "Japanese online shopping sites' fake reviews took over Amazon and $11,000 could buy 1,000 positive reviews" was shocking; in May this year, "The exposure of a large amount of buyer information on international fake order websites" caused a sensation; today, "The Wall Street Journal's exposure of fake reviews" has put Amazon on the cusp of the storm again... Amazon's move this time can be regarded as a warning to others...

Finally, I would like to remind you that if there are still sellers who have conducted reviews or invited reviews in violation of regulations recently, they must act with caution. Sales volume is important, but the account value is higher. Only by avoiding risks in time can you go further!
