Sellers, please note! Several new Amazon regulations are about to take effect

text

Recently, Amazon has introduced several new regulations, including new order processing regulations, new AWD rates, new product compliance requirements, etc.
The stricter the new policy, the higher the threshold, and the more important compliance is. Sellers need to respond quickly to seize the opportunity!

01 New rules for order processing: effective February 24
The order processing setting threshold adjustment policy , which was originally scheduled to take effect on February 7 , has now been postponed to February 24.
This policy adjustment is mainly aimed at the order processing capabilities of the seller platform. The specific points are as follows:
  • Automatically set a minimum order processing capacity threshold based on the average daily order volume in the past 30 days.

  • Reassess weekly and adjust minimums accordingly.

  • Once order volume reaches this threshold, the delivery date will be automatically extended by one day.

  • Sellers can set higher order processing capabilities on their own, but they cannot be lower than the minimum threshold set by Amazon.

  • This policy only applies to Standard and Free Economy Shipping and does not affect Premium Shipping or self-fulfilled Prime orders.

In the face of the implementation of the new regulations, sellers are advised to consider the following strategies:

1. Optimize order rhythm and improve threshold calculation benchmark: Try to stabilize daily sales, make the "safety valve" calculated by the system higher, and avoid unnecessary order restrictions.

2. Pre-planning for big promotions: If there are big promotions such as flash sales, BD, and LD, plan them several weeks in advance and increase sales through reasonable means. This will enable the system to give a higher order processing capacity threshold to avoid stuck orders.

3. Manual optimization settings: Based on actual business capabilities and order expectations, manually increase the upper limit of order processing capacity and reduce the degree of intervention of the system's automatic threshold setting.

4. Use tools to analyze data: With the help of Amazon platform or third-party data analysis software, you can understand the changing trends of order volumes for different time periods and different products, arrange manpower, material resources and inventory in advance, and ensure that you have sufficient capacity to process orders.

At the same time, it is recommended that sellers regularly evaluate their actual operational capabilities and adjust processing capacity settings in a timely manner to ensure stable store operations.

02 FBA Compensation Policy: Effective March 10

Starting from March 10, 2025, Amazon FBA compensation standards have been updated! For goods lost or damaged before consumers place an order, compensation will be based on the manufacturing cost of the inventory. Transportation, tariffs and other costs are not included in the compensation!

"Manufacturing cost" refers to the cost of purchasing products from manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors. If you are a manufacturer , it refers to the cost of producing the product. This can be viewed in [Manage your manufacturing costs].

Note: Sellers need to provide the costs themselves: they need to upload purchase invoices, logistics bills and other supporting documents.

Sellers should review Amazon’s policy guidelines and fill out cost information carefully before submission.

Once the review result of a product is issued, it cannot be updated again within 30 days after the result notification. If the update is rejected, the seller can try again after the applicable period. And reserve processing time to avoid multiple submissions.

03 Amazon AWD new rates: effective April 1

To further encourage sellers to use the AWD automatic replenishment function and improve inventory management efficiency, Amazon will launch a new AWD rate policy starting April 1, 2025.

The original rate consisted of a basic rate and an integration rate, but from April 1, the integration rate was discontinued and new smart warehousing rates and management rates were introduced.

If adequate inventory levels are maintained, the new AWD Smart Storage option offers a 10 percent discount, bringing the AWD storage cost down to $0.43 per cubic foot per month.

The new rate is specially set up for automatic replenishment "Smart Storage Rate" discount! New sellers and new products can automatically enjoy the 90-day "AWD Smart Storage Rate" discount.

In general, the average storage fee of AWD is lower than that of FBA, and there is no price adjustment during the peak season. There is no storage configuration service fee when the goods enter the AWD warehouse. If automatic replenishment is turned on, the low inventory fee, excess inventory fee and storage utilization surcharge can be waived.

04 United States and Canada: New product compliance requirements

Recently, the US and Canadian sites have new compliance requirements for the "electric transportation equipment" and "electric transportation equipment accessories" categories!

If sellers sell "electric transportation equipment accessories" on the US or Canadian sites, they need to complete relevant compliance requirements, otherwise the products will be removed from the shelves on April 21, 2025 .

Amazon requires that all electric transportation equipment accessories be tested and comply with the following regulations, standards, and requirements:

At the same time, the compliance requirements for the "Electric Transportation Equipment" category on the US site have also been updated. According to Amazon's requirements, all electric transportation equipment should be tested and comply with the following regulations, standards and requirements:

Sellers are advised to pay attention to their personal mailboxes in time to receive reminder emails. If you miss the deadline for submitting compliance documents, your products will be at risk of being removed from the shelves.

In short, Amazon's various new policies have also put forward higher requirements for sellers. Sellers must keep abreast of policy changes and adjust their operating strategies according to their own circumstances. Do not conduct illegal operations. Compliance and refined operations are the long-term solution!
