51% of U.S. consumers plan to continue shopping after the holidays, expecting to spend between $100 and $499

It is learned that on January 2, according to foreign media reports, a survey showed that 77% of American consumers believe that post-holiday discounts are more cost-effective, and more than half plan to use these discounts to make large purchases.

According to a survey of 1,006 consumers by online coupon platform CouponCabin, 51% of consumers plan to shop immediately after the January holidays to buy big-ticket items. Consumers believe that large shopping malls are the best place to go for post-holiday discounts (71%), followed by department stores (49%), pure online stores (48%), direct sales stores (18%) and furniture stores (7%).

Most consumers expect to spend $100 to $499 after the holidays, with more than half saying they will use holiday gift cards and cash. Regionally, Midwestern consumers are most likely to continue to make high-volume purchases after the holidays, spending $5,000 or more. At the same time, 53% of Midwestern consumers said they are most likely to save holiday gift cards and money and not do post-holiday shopping, a higher proportion than the Southwest (48%) and Northeast (43%).

The survey also revealed a self-reward trend in post-holiday shopping behavior. Nearly 60% of consumers said they had used holiday gifts to buy other items for themselves, and on average exchanged more than 20% of the gifts. In terms of returns, clothing was the category with the highest return rate (82%), followed by electronics (19%), beauty (16%) and jewelry (13%).
