Scooters sold on Amazon and other platforms are recalled by CPSC! 6 injuries reported

It is learned that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of a scooter sold by Segway due to the risk of falling and injury.

It is understood that the recalled product is Segway Ninebot P100 scooter, model P100S, manufactured in 2023. The affected serial numbers contain date code 2308 or higher (e.g. xxxxx2308xxxxx, xxxx2310xxxxx, xxxxx2311xxxxx), and the serial number is marked on the left side of the product. The product is black and gray with red trim, and the Segway label is on the rear fender. The product is 46 inches long, 25 inches wide, 50 inches high, and weighs approximately 72.5 pounds.

Between October 2022 and June 2024, approximately 1,400 units of the product were sold through online channels such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Indiegogo, and retailers such as Broward Motorsport and Mad Dog Cycles, with a price of approximately $2,000.

The CPSC said the scooter's front fork could break, posing a risk of falling and injury to riders. Segway has received 31 reports of front fork damage, including six reports of injuries resulting in fractures, cuts, abrasions, bruises and shoulder pain.

In response, the CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled scooters and contact Segway for free repairs. Segway will direct consumers to local stores for repairs or provide prepaid shipping labels to ship the products to national service centers for repairs. Currently, Segway is directly contacting all known purchasers.
