Canadian retail e-commerce will maintain strong growth in 2021! Sales are expected to reach 86.52 billion Canadian dollars

It is learned that eMarketer recently released the latest report on the Canadian e-commerce market, predicting that Canadian retail e-commerce sales will reach 86.52 billion Canadian dollars (64.51 billion US dollars) in 2021 and will continue to maintain strong growth.

The report shows that retail e-commerce in Canada grew by 75.0% last year. The epidemic forced consumers to buy goods online, and retailers also turned to online sales.

It is predicted that there will be 24.2 million digital online buyers in Canada in 2021. Online purchases will include buying on a mobile device, buying through social media, using click and collect, and engaging in cross-border purchases.

The Canadian retail market shows that Canada's total retail sales will rebound this year, up 6.4% year-on-year. The biggest change is the relative share of physical retail and e-commerce retail, which will account for 13.4% of all retail this year, up from 6.9% in 2019.

The increase in shopping apps and social commerce drove mobile’s share, bringing mobile e-commerce sales to CAD$29.42 billion (USD$21.93 billion), equivalent to 34.0% of retail e-commerce.
