According to foreign media reports, Newegg recently announced the launch of "Home Showcase" based on artificial intelligence (AI), an innovative and interactive shopping page for home products. The company uses artificial intelligence to improve the visual effects and descriptions of product categories to provide consumers with shopping inspiration and recommendations. Designed for homeowners, Home Showcase's page resembles a two-story house with eight clickable room icons, including office, kitchen, living room, bathroom, playroom, bedroom, garage and yard. Clicking on a room icon brings up a curated list of commonly recommended products in a specific area, complete with deals, top brands and inspiration photos for a specific room. For example, clicking on the kitchen icon shows appliances like stoves, tortilla makers, and pressure cookers; clicking on the yard icon shows outdoor heaters, security cameras, bikes, scooters, and wearables. With the popularity of ChatGPT, many e-commerce platforms have announced the launch of AI chatbot services and more artificial intelligence projects. Newegg uses Stable Diffusion AI (a text-to-image artificial intelligence model) to improve product photos to explain features to customers, and uses ChatGPT to create product descriptions and concise text on quick browse pages. The retailer is also using the ChatGPT AI model, which engages with users in a conversational manner, mimicking human interactions and using machine learning (ML) to continually refine and improve its responses in a number of customer-facing areas of its website, including the PC Builder shopping tool, as well as optimizing text content across the site, revamping customer service chat, customer email subject lines, and search engine optimization. It is learned that "Home Showcase" will be launched first on Newegg.com and is suitable for desktop and laptop users to browse. The company plans to launch a mobile version in late June. “Homeowners often consider the usefulness of a product based on how often they use it,” said Lucy Huo, vice president of app development at Newegg. “We are simplifying the shopping process by creating a helpful tool to help customers browse products that may improve their home life. We firmly believe that AI is beneficial to the e-commerce industry, promoting the upgrade of shopping platforms and helping us provide the best customer experience using the latest technology.” According to the report, Newegg expects to launch more AI-related features during 2023. The company believes that AI will play an important role in the future e-commerce market, especially in improving the user shopping experience.
