It is learned that on December 15, Tiendanube released its latest report, summarizing the categories that Mexican consumers purchased most online in 2022 and analyzing consumers' online shopping behavior.
The report shows that "self-care" is the key theme for Mexicans' online shopping in 2022. Since the beginning of the year, the products most purchased online by consumers are products focusing on health and self-pleasure, including food supplements, hair care products, anti-stress toys, beauty products and accessories.
Sunglasses are the most purchased nationwide. In addition, candy stands out among the top 5 best-selling categories for online shopping. Food supplements saw a peak in sales growth in the second quarter of this year, especially in April.
In terms of average price of popular categories, sunglasses at P1,959.10 had the highest sales, followed by food supplements at P733.90, hair care products at P476.10, and anti-stress toys at P330.
The report shows that Mexican consumers tend to buy in advance during some big promotions, such as discount events such as ElBuenFin. Affected by the big promotions, November is the month with the highest demand for online shopping in 2022.
In terms of payment methods, credit cards were the preferred method in 36% of transactions, followed by personalized payments (23%), transfers (8%) and debit cards (6%).
It’s worth noting that 64% of purchases are made via mobile devices, so it’s extremely important that stores are prepared to sell through different channels.
Direct selling and slow fashion are new trends that will see significant growth during 2022. Currently, these trends are mainly emerging in the fashion and health and beauty sectors, but are expected to spread to other categories in the future.
