Why do Mexican consumers love online shopping? Here are 10 reasons!

According to market research firm Statista, Mexico's e-commerce market was worth more than $23 billion at the end of 2021. In the past year, the average consumer spent about 8,300 pesos (403 U.S. dollars) on online shopping.

The data shows that the top 10 reasons why Mexican consumers like online shopping are:

  1. Goods arrive in good condition (79%)
  2. Protection of personal privacy (79%)
  3. Delivery speed (76%)
  4. Diversity of payment methods (75%)
  5. Product warranty: (74%)
  6. Return process: (73%)
  7. Providing guidance or product shipping status (73%)
  8. Discounts and other promotions that are not available in physical stores (70%)
  9. Easy pickup method (65%)
  10. Lower prices than in-store prices (65%)

We found that Mexican consumers check the following information before purchasing goods or services:

  • Video (77%)
  • Text comments (on social networks or blogs, 57%)
  • Images (53%)
  • Live streaming (11%)
  • Audio (podcasts of radio shows, 8%)

It is worth noting that 89% of Mexicans check and compare prices on various platforms before purchasing. In addition, 62% usually share their opinions after purchase, including usage and shopping experience.
