Under the new US tax law, sellers' costs have increased! This platform may be a new way out

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, starting next year, the US online market will usher in a new tax law, and online sellers will pay taxes that they did not have before, which means that sellers' costs will increase. At this time, if there is an e-commerce platform with great potential and not so saturated as a sales channel, it can reduce the cost pressure of sellers to a certain extent.

Under the new tax policy, in January 2022, the new 1099-K form rules show that all annual online transactions over $600 must be reported. The previous 1099-K guidelines required sellers with at least 200 transactions and total sales of more than $20,000 to apply for tax returns, which will still apply to those who file their 2022 tax returns.

Facebook Marketplace has been an overlooked blue ocean e-commerce platform that is relatively new to its competitors. Facebook Marketplace was not officially launched until 2016, while similar brands such as Etsy and eBay have been around for more than a decade.

According to Statista, Amazon is the largest online marketplace in the United States, with more than 2 billion online visits per month in 2021. eBay ranked second with nearly 689 million monthly visits, while Walmart had 389 million monthly visits and Etsy had 238 million.

Facebook Marketplace doesn't rank high among these competitors, but Facebook's market value is about $943 billion, ranking seventh in the world.

Facebook Marketplace is continuing to grow, with the platform reaching a milestone of 1 billion users in 2021 and reportedly having over 250 million online merchants on the platform.

A large portion of eBay's online transactions come from resale items, while Etsy focuses more on handmade and small boutiques, such as custom jewelry and accessories. On Facebook Marketplace, buyers can buy almost anything, and in addition to ordinary consumer goods, Facebook Marketplace also offers items such as apartments, houses, and new and used cars.

As Facebook Marketplace continues to become more popular, the platform may soon catch up to other competitors.
