51% of American consumers will shop online early next year! Strong demand for electronic products!

It is learned that according to the latest survey by logistics and transportation company Pitney Bowes, more than half of American consumers (51%) plan to shop online in January or February 2022 and hope to get more post-holiday discounts and inventory.

According to a Pitney Bowes survey, electronic products will be the most popular category at the beginning of next year. Due to chip shortages and low discounts, 30% of consumers will not buy electronic products during this peak season.

In addition, clothing will be the second most popular category. 21% of consumers said they will buy clothes early next year, among which Generation Z and Millennials are most likely to buy. Due to the continued supply chain problems, gift cards are ranked third in popularity.

Here are some other findings from Pitney Bowes:

  • 45% of consumers said that this year's holiday discounts are not good enough and will postpone their purchases;

  • About 69% of Gen Z and Millennials will make a purchase by early 2022;

  • 26% of consumers believe that retailers are responsible for delayed shipments;

  • More than half of millennials would recommend a business that offers up-to-date delivery dates to friends and family.
