Shopify is quietly launching the "Gift Shop" feature! Sellers' products will be displayed side by side

Shopify is quietly launching a "gift shop" feature in its Shop app for U.S. consumers to buy gifts, a Shopify spokesperson confirmed.

Buyers can reportedly browse a curated collection of gifts in the Shop app and choose from a list of products from Shopify merchants. After selecting a gift, they will be prompted to enter the names of the sender and recipient and provided with a custom link.

The buyer can then take the link and send it to the recipient via the messaging platform of their choice. The buyer is not charged until the recipient accepts the gift and enters the delivery address information.

The feature, which is designed to make gifting easier and more seamless, has not yet been rolled out to Shopify, but some Shop users received an email about it this morning.

It is worth noting that under this function, merchants' products will be displayed side by side to facilitate buyers to compare, which will create a competitive environment among merchants.

It is learned that Shopify has been testing a search function in Shop, which has also been questioned as triggering competition among merchants, and Shopify will eventually become the same as Amazon. However, Shopify’s internal employees have been discussing how to ensure that this does not happen.
