According to the RIAA survey, in the first half of 2021 alone, the sales of vinyl records in the United States reached 467 million U.S. dollars, while the sales of CDs were 205 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 44%. Among them, online sales of CDs accounted for nearly 70% of total retail sales; online sales of vinyl records accounted for 33.3%.

It is reported that due to the epidemic, people are unable to go out to participate in various music activities, which has led to a significant increase in the sales of records and CDs. In addition, according to Mixmag, 15% of Generation Z respondents said they bought vinyl records in the past 12 months, and 11% of millennials said they also bought vinyl records in the same period.

It is learned that 28% of Generation Z consumers discover new music through video games, or explore music they are interested in through TikTok, and then buy records and CDs online or in physical stores.
