The United States Postal Service recently announced that it will provide same-day or next-day delivery services (USPS Connect Local) in Laredo, Texas and other southern cities starting September 27. Previously, the program was launched in seven locations in Dallas and Houston on July 19.
It is reported that the pilot program will be extended to 35 stations, and the program is expected to help solve the problem of soaring international transportation costs while improving the efficiency of "last mile" delivery.
The USPS said the program is being rolled out in phases to help businesses meet consumer demand for fast local delivery and returns.
This is worrying news for retailers and consumers during the Christmas shopping season. Due to the fragmentation of distribution, the "last mile" delivery has become the most expensive process, and the USPS is currently working hard to optimize the process.
