It is learned that the international luxury e-commerce platform Farfetch recently announced the launch of a new pre-order service. This service will provide consumers with a "first-hand experience" of the latest products of the season, and also aims to effectively manage inventory and minimize waste through the process of placing orders before production. The function has been launched on August 25.
It is reported that the service will cooperate with 10 fashion brands to provide new pre-order styles every month, and consumers will be shipped about 4 weeks after purchase. Many of these brands are launching pre-orders through Farfetch for the first time, and Farfetch also stated that other brands will be launched in the future.
Farfetch is not the first company to try this retail model. Luxury goods sellers and brands have a long history of rewarding VIP customers, including allowing them to experience new collections before the products are released.
Moda Operandi hosts fashion shows on its website and lets consumers pre-order pieces soon after they debut, while more recently fashion brands such as Kitri and Telfar have begun using pre-order features to better predict product demand.
