BPOM is the abbreviation of the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (Badan Pengawas Obatdan Makanan in full in Indonesia). Its function is similar to that of the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of our country. Its main purpose is to maintain the operation of Indonesia's food and drug quality control system and to enhance the safety of food and drug use in Indonesia. The main tasks include inspecting all pre-market products such as processed foods (excluding unprocessed fresh products), medicines and beauty care products in accordance with international food and drug management standards, while also monitoring the quality of post-market products. Ensure that the products meet official requirements and are not harmful to the health of the Indonesian people and the community environment. Indonesian full text Badan Pengawas Obatdan Makanan about According to relevant laws and regulations, applicants for BPOM must be local manufacturers, importers or distributors in Indonesia. Foreign manufacturers must apply through local legal businesses (food manufacturers, importers or distributors), and the manufacturing supplier itself must obtain GMP (cosmetics, food, medicine), HACCP (food), ISO22000 (food), FSSC (food), BRC (food) and other international certifications to be eligible for application. All foreign imported products must first be BPOM graded, and after passing the review, they will obtain a string of ID numbers, namely ML number (Makanan Luar), before they can be sold. Application Process To apply for BPOM, you can now fill out the application form online (http://e-bpom.pom.go.ig/), prepare the relevant product certification documents and upload them. After the Indonesian authorities complete the inspection and certification, the certification number will be issued. Each number is valid for five years, and you can apply for renewal after the expiration date. The administrative fee for applying for a BPOM certificate number depends on the product item (By SKU ), and the price ranges from IDR 150,000 to IDR 3 million. The application time is officially estimated to be about one month, but due to the slow local administrative process, it actually often takes half a year, and the company is not proactively notified of any missing documents, resulting in companies having to apply several times before they can obtain the BPOM certificate number.
