Meesho is an Indian social media e-commerce platform. Sellers can choose the products they want to sell through the platform and then forward them to social media such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The platform charges a 15% service commission for each successful transaction and provides logistics, payment, and product procurement services to its sellers. Establishment

Meesho was founded in 2016 by two IIT Delhi graduates, Sanjeev and Vidit, in 2015. According to the information provided by Meesho, Meesho currently has 10 million registered distributors, 500,000 monthly active distributors, 150,000 daily orders, 100 million daily page views, and more than 2 million products.

Settlement process

The specific workflow of the distributor is as follows: the online retailer selects the product on the Meesho App → shares the selected product to his/her Whatsapp, Facebook and other pages → the distributor publishes the selection to the entire social circle → after the end consumer sees the product, he/she decides to buy it by inquiring → the distributor places an order on the Meesho App.

Meesho's seller types and investment plan

There is no entry fee, no deposit, no promotion fee, zero returns, and no sales commission. Sellers who only need to supply goods and can provide unique products and prices will be given priority.

The following are the specific requirements for product categories:

Clothing: women's clothing, men's clothing, excluding children's clothing;

Fashion accessories: including shoes, hats, bags, necklaces, glasses, watches, rings, scarves, etc.;

Children's peripherals: including toys, stationery, and children's fashion accessories;

Kitchen furniture: limited to small and light items;

Beauty: Makeup tools only;

Electronics: Only non-battery, non-Bluetooth.

Financing

In October 2017, Meesho received US$3.4 million in Series A funding.

In June 2018, Meesho completed another US$11.5 million in Series B financing.

In November 2018, Meesho completed its Series C financing of US$50 million. Investors included DST Partners, RPS Ventures, Venture Highway, YC, SAIF Partners, Shunwei Capital, and Sequoia Capital.

In June 2019, Meesho completed a strategic investment in an undisclosed amount from Facebook.

In August 2019, Meesho completed its Series D financing of US$125 million. Investors included DST Partners, Naspers, Sequoia Capital India, Venture Highway, SAIF Partners, Facebook, RPS Ventures, and Shunwei Capital.
