In early 2004, programmer Dimitar Slavov launched eCRATER. He spent about four months writing the initial version of the site and launched a beta version in early fall 2004.

The first item sold on the eCRATER site was a CD by the rock band Motorhead for $10.99. The most expensive item ever sold on eCRATER is a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette.

eCRATER has a shopping cart feature that allows buyers to pay using PayPal, Google Checkout, check or money order.

The eCRATER community forum was launched on February 24, 2006. The main categories of the community forum include: art, antiques, treasures, books, cameras and photos, collectibles, computers, crafts, electronics, movies and DVDs, home and garden, music, sports or outdoors, toys, games and hobbies.

In October 2008, eCRATER had 1.5 million products.

In January 2009, eCRATER had 65,242 active stores and 462,000 unique visitors per day.

In March 2011, the eCRATER website was ranked approximately 4260 on Alexa. The current ranking is 8,972 (April 2018).

All text must be in English, all prices must be in USD and equal to or greater than $0.2, and the seller must be able to ship throughout the United States.

Prohibited items
