The additional insights provided by Fakespot can eliminate unreliable reviews to help shoppers make more informed decisions about products and apps.

The websites supported by Fakespot are Amazon, BestBuy, Sephora, Steam, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Walmart.

Usage Process

1. Log in to the website, then paste the URL into the search box and Fakespot will start analyzing the comments on this page.

2. After the analysis is completed, Fakespot will give an AF rating, A means 100% of the reviews are real, and F means that the product is full of fake reviews.

Version

There is a web version, and browser extensions are also available for Chrome and Firefox.

AF rating classification

A: 90%-100% of the reviews are genuine, with a star rating of 4 stars or above

B: 80-89% of the reviews are genuine, with a star rating of 3 stars or above

C: 65%-79% of the reviews are genuine, with a star rating of 2 stars or above

D: 45-64% of reviews are genuine, with a star rating of 1.5 stars or above

F: 445 or less genuine reviews, with a star rating of 1 or above

Evaluation results

A and B: Reviews are reliable

C: A mixture of reliable and unreliable reviews
D and F: Not enough reliable reviews

User experience

There will be a lag and it is not 100% accurate. I used a listing that had not been faked, and the final Fakespot detection result was D. So, the result is for reference only.

Development History

In September 2018, Indian data analysis platform Fakespot received a seed round of financing of 70 million rupees (about 1 million US dollars) from SRI Capital. Fakespot will use the funds to develop products and launch new censorship detection services.
