What no one expected was that another Amazon employee was arrested on suspicion of stealing goods!

01

The amount involved was 500,000 euros, and 5 Amazon employees were arrested

According to foreign media reports, Spanish police recently arrested five employees at Amazon's largest warehouse in Spain, San Fernando de Henares, because they were accused of stealing 500,000 euros worth of mobile phones .

When the police made the arrest, they seized 10 high-end mobile phones and a large number of IMEI stickers with the unique identification of each phone . The suspects tore off the identification labels of each phone, making the police investigation difficult.

It is understood that it all started with an internal investigation by the company's security department, which found that a lot of high-end mobile phones were missing.

The investigation began when Amazon's security department found that the export weight of five packages in the distribution area did not match the import weight of the center . The packages did not contain the high-end mobile phones and electronic watches purchased by customers. Then the relevant department reported the case.

The police successfully found the suspects using security cameras hidden at the theft scene. Three of them were arrested when they left their workplace at 11:30 p.m. local time. The fourth was arrested in the logistics center while on duty in the morning. The fifth suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police station. At present, all five suspects have been arrested .

The stolen phones are estimated to be worth around 500,000 euros. Officers from the Judicial Police Squad of the San Fernando de Coslada police station continued their investigation and discovered how the employees managed to steal the Apple branded phones, some of which were worth 1,600 euros .

The police are still investigating and trying to find the stolen phones and, if necessary, arrest potential buyers of these phones . All those arrested have been fired by Amazon. So far, Amazon has not made any statement on the case.

In recent years, Amazon employee theft cases have occurred frequently, which has also caused many sellers to worry about such incidents. Last year, Spanish police also arrested an Amazon employee who was suspected of stealing goods worth 300,000 euros by cooperating with outsiders .

In addition to the theft incidents, Amazon employees have also been speechless due to some other scandals!

Amazon employee arrested by FBI for illegal refund of 660,000 yuan

Last month, a former Amazon employee was arrested by the FBI on suspicion of using Amazon's system to defraud online sellers .

It is understood that the employee worked as a sales support assistant at Amazon, and his job content included providing support to third-party sellers and assisting in creating and managing seller listings using a "Spoofer" account, which allows Amazon employees to view and edit third-party seller accounts. From these accounts, employees can manually authorize refunds for goods ordered from third-party sellers.

The employee used his employee privileges to mistakenly issue 318 unauthorized refunds to himself and his colleagues between November 2019 and February 2020.

It is understood that these refunds include refunds of approximately US$96,508.13 ( approximately RMB 660,000 ) for high-value goods such as computers and electronic products .
