Another wave of product reviews coming! ? Amazon bulk email reminder

In recent days, many sellers on European sites have received an official email from Amazon, requiring sellers to upload compliance documents in accordance with regulations and reminding sellers that if they fail to upload valid documents within the specified period, the corresponding products will be removed from the shelves.

At present, sellers in the United States and Europe have received this email, involving many categories, including toys, home furnishings, accessories, and some electronic products. Students can go to the performance page in the background, check the product compliance requirements, and see whether the product needs to upload compliance documents.

The mass email mainly refers to the European CE mandatory certification standards. All products circulated in Europe must comply with the CE standards and be affixed with the CE mark. The reason why Amazon sent a mass email to remind sellers of compliance issues is more because the CE certification system will undergo major changes at the end of this year.

The UK and the EU have recently reached a partial agreement on some Brexit details. Starting from January 1, 21, the UK will adopt a new compliance standard - UKCA to replace the CE certification, and will abolish the old CE mark after a one-year transition period (January 1, 22).

That is to say, the CE mark can only be used until the end of this year. If new products enter the UK market next year, they will have to obtain UKCA certification. Although old products with only the CE mark can continue to circulate, they will only have a one-year transition period . On January 1, 22, the UK will not accept products with only the CE mark.

On the other hand, the CE certification is still used in the EU. Products must have the CE mark before they can be circulated. The UKCA standard is not recognized in the EU, and products with only the UKCA mark cannot enter the EU.

Therefore, if the product wants to be circulated in both the European and British markets, it must handle the separation of UKCA and CE certification. It is best to apply for both standards and post them on the product/instructions, so that it can be sold in both markets at the same time.

Products that need to be registered with UKCA are the same as products that are applicable to CE, including toys, radio equipment, measuring instruments, personal protection equipment, low-voltage electrical appliances, etc.

The European site has the highest compliance requirements in the global market. The certifications and requirements for various products often confuse sellers. If you are not careful and miss any certification, big problems will arise. Below I will sort out several commonly used certifications in the European site.

Common product certification in Europe

1. CE certification

CE certification is a mandatory product safety certification implemented by EU countries. Most domestic e-commerce products exported to the EU need to be CE marked, such as all products that are powered, including power supplies, lamps, home appliances, electronics, communications, wireless, machinery, and other products, as well as toys, personal protection, medical equipment and other categories of products. So, if your product belongs to the above products, you must remember to get the CE mark. Of course, if you also want to sell to the UK, you must do both CE certification and UKCA.

2. European/British

EU law stipulates that manufacturers outside the EU must appoint an EU authorized representative within the EU, who will be responsible for the various product standards after CE certification. The same is true for the UK representative, but after the UK and the EU split, the UK needs a separate UK representative.

Please note that if you want to use the CE/UKCA mark, you must have such a representative. This representative is only responsible for product safety and is neither an agent importer nor a sales representative.
