Walmart and Wing team up to provide drone delivery service to 60,000 households!

Walmart said: "Two years ago, we embarked on a journey to provide convenient drone delivery to our customers. During this time, we have grown to offer drone delivery services in seven states and 36 stores, completing more than 10,000 safe deliveries."

Walmart is continuing its drone delivery momentum by partnering with Wing, an on-demand drone delivery provider backed by Google parent company Alphabet, to offer drone deliveries from two of its stores in the Dallas metropolitan area in the coming months, a service that will reach 60,000 households.

"Our partnership with Wing is fully aligned with our passion for finding innovative and environmentally friendly last-mile delivery solutions to get customers what they want, when they want it. With drones, we are able to provide on-demand delivery to customers who live within approximately 6 miles of a store we serve."

Walmart's Walmart Supercenter at 8555 Preston Road in Frisco, Texas will be the first new store to offer drone delivery services, joining Walmart's existing network of 11 drone centers in the Dallas area. Once operations begin, customers can download the Wing app from the App Store or Google Play and enter their address to determine if their home is within the Wing drone delivery range. Customers will be able to order frozen meals, household essentials, last-minute meal solutions like macaroni and cheese, and even fragile items like eggs.

This is an exciting next step for our customers because it provides more convenient, innovative, and most importantly, super-fast ways to get the items they need. The promise of drone delivery is clear: the sky really is the limit. You can learn more about Wing’s operations and how we work together to make things easier for our customers on the Wing blog.
