In addition to bringing additional tax costs to sellers, Amazon's tax compliance in Europe also brings a lot of troubles. Recently, many sellers have reported in our group that the backend of the European site suddenly requires uploading invoices for orders.
The red "Missing Invoice" prompt immediately made the European sellers nervous. What kind of invoice is this? What will happen if they don't send it? ▲Several of our communication groups are discussing this invoice issue (Sellers who need to join the group can scan the QR code at the end of the article to find me) Amazon has not yet issued a unified statement or notification. After feeling everyone's confusion about this issue, I quickly collected some information from all parties and told you what this invoice is about. ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ What invoice should I upload? A small number of sellers received the official notification email when they updated the invoice upload requirements in the background, but most sellers have not received it yet. I will post it here for everyone to see. Top: Original email Bottom: Direct translation using translation software This email mainly stated that invoice information must be uploaded for B2B orders, but many sellers in the group reported "missing invoices" which were all ordinary 2C orders. So I searched for information further and found that other European sellers also received emails like the one below, which were slightly different from those on the German site. The content of this email states that most 2B orders and some 2C orders require sellers to issue and upload invoices themselves. The content of the email revealed that these "missing invoice" orders require sellers to manually upload the corresponding VAT invoice. Usually, the "missing invoice" mark will appear after the order is completed, and the seller needs to complete the invoice upload within one working day. The requirement to upload invoices in Europe is not a sudden policy today. As early as the beginning of this year, Amazon announced in the background that invoices need to be uploaded for all B2B orders. ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ Was the invoice incident prepared long ago? In January this year, the European site pushed this news. Because there were not many corporate orders, this policy did not cause much reaction at the time. The recent invoice incident is likely that the same policy has begun to be implemented on ordinary 2C orders, so many sellers don’t know what to do this time. Some sellers in our group also consulted customer service, and the replies they received confirmed my above guess that the recent invoice policy is likely to be the same as the policy at the beginning of the year.
In addition to asking sellers to upload invoices according to the process, the customer service also recommended Amazon's own VAT calculation service (VCS) to sellers, saying that it can automatically configure invoices without manual uploading. This is exactly the same as the notice in January. This VCS service can automatically help sellers generate VAT invoices for each order (so they don’t have to upload it themselves) and VAT transaction reports, and display the tax-exclusive price and a special logo in the product details - "You can download the VAT invoice yourself" To summarize, this “missing invoice” means that sellers are required to upload the VAT invoice for each order by themselves, and Amazon is not doing this on a whim. Amazon has already implemented this policy for 2B orders. Sellers can choose to upload invoices themselves or choose Amazon's VCS service to automatically generate invoices. Although Europe has already gone most of the way towards compliance, requiring invoices to be uploaded for all orders is still a bit radical. Amazon's move will certainly cause a strong reaction from sellers. If the strict implementation of the standards affects subsequent sales, it will cause even more serious consequences. So I think this matter is not yet final, we still need to wait for further notice from Amazon. Of course, there is no problem in planning this area early, and compliance is an inevitable trend . Finally, I have prepared a collection of VAT tax precautions for everyone, everyone scan the code to find me to get it~ PS.
