Recently, DHL released the "U.S. Online Shopper Trends Report", which reveals the shopping behaviors, preferences, and views on delivery and returns of American online shoppers. This report provides a reference for sellers who hope to succeed during the holiday peak season. The report shows that 61% of American shoppers shop online at least once a week, and 84% of shoppers browse for items to buy next at least once a week. 63% of Americans buy clothing and footwear online, followed by 33% for consumer electronics and 30% for health products. This shows that the online shopping community in the United States is very active, especially in fashion apparel. However, 94% of shoppers said that logistics and delivery options would directly affect their choice of online shopping. It is particularly important to provide a variety of delivery methods, including delivery doors, parcel lockers and express stations. 45% of consumers even said that if the commonly used logistics and delivery options are not available, they will choose to give up shopping. Data shows that 43% of Americans have purchased online shopping subscription services, and pet food subscription services are popular (44% in the United States and 25% globally). Sellers should consider strengthening or launching various subscription services to cater to this growing trend. 61% of shoppers use social media to get shopping inspiration, and 26% of them complete their purchase directly on a social platform, highlighting the importance of social media in engaging customers and increasing sales. In addition, 99% of US shoppers use e-commerce platforms to make purchases, with Amazon (92%), eBay (47%) and Walmart (68%) being the most popular. For sellers, it is crucial to maintain seller rankings on these platforms, which can significantly increase brand awareness and sales. At the same time, 37% of Americans use cross-border e-commerce platforms for shopping, and 70% of them shop at least once a month. Providing simple and free return services can enhance consumers' confidence in cross-border shopping. China (64%), the United Kingdom (29%), France (23%), Canada (15%) and Germany (13%) have become the most frequently visited cross-border shopping destinations for Americans. Finally, 58% of shoppers say sustainability is important, but are not necessarily willing to pay extra for sustainable delivery methods. Therefore, sellers should consider offering eco-friendly online shopping options at no extra charge to attract environmentally conscious consumers. Author✎ Summer/ |
