More than 170,000 bathtub grab bars are urgently recalled by CPSC! Available on Amazon and other platforms

It is learned that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of several bathtub safety grab bars sold by Liberty Hardware due to the risk of falling .

The recalled products involve Peerless Multi-Grip bathtub safety grab bars, model PL585; Safety First models SF585 and S1F585; and Delta model DF585. The grab bars are made of powder-coated aluminum, white in color, with a one-inch diameter tube and two gripping surfaces, 8 inches and 15 inches in length. The model and brand name are listed on the label on the product packaging.

About 174,500 of the products were sold between January 2011 and May 2024 at Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Lowe's, Menards, and other hardware stores nationwide for between $16 and $55. Liberty Hardware has received 14 reports of grip pads falling off or needing to be replaced after installation, including one fall that resulted in a minor injury.

The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bathtub grab bars and contact Liberty Hardware to request a prepaid label and free packaging to return the product and receive a $35 refund.
