CPSC urgently recalls over 187,000 Best Buy air fryers due to fire risk

It is learned that on March 14, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled six air fryers and air fryer ovens under the brand Insignia, saying there is a fire risk.

The CPSC said that these six products may overheat during use, causing the handles to melt, crack, or the glass to shatter, posing dangers of fire, burns, and more.

The recall involves air fryers and air fryer ovens with model numbers NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2 and NS-AF10DSS2. The product rating label on the bottom of each device indicates the brand Insignia and model number.

The announcement showed that approximately 187,400 units of these products were sold at Best Buy, eBay online stores and third-party sellers between November 2021 and November 2023, with prices ranging from US$32 to US$180.

At present, Insignia has received 24 reports of overheating/melting or glass breakage, including 6 incidents of air fryer fires. There are no reports of casualties or property damage.

CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens and visit https://www.recallrtr.com/airfryer for instructions on how to submit materials for the recalled equipment and instructions for equipment destruction. Consumers can receive a refund in the form of a check or Best Buy store credit.
