It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Walmart is accelerating the development of its third-party market (Walmart Marketplace) to provide sellers with more functions so that they can promote and deliver products to customers. The retail giant held its first Walmart Marketplace Seller Summit on Wednesday (August 30), attended by many third-party sellers doing business on the site. At the event, Walmart also unveiled several new fulfillment and marketing features that will help it attract more new sellers and retain existing ones. It also announced that it will launch a third-party marketplace outside of North America. Delivery function Local pickup and delivery: Walmart Marketplace is offering local pickup and delivery services to sellers with physical stores. Customers can pick up their orders directly or have them delivered the same day through Walmart’s last-mile delivery network. Walmart Fulfillment Service (WFS) offers large and multi-box delivery: Walmart is giving sellers who sell large items, such as canoes or trampolines, more delivery options by now using Walmart Fulfillment Service (WFS), a fee-based program that provides services including storage, picking, packing and shipping, as well as return processing and customer service. These new services mean more items can be labeled "Fulfilled by Walmart." According to Walmart, third-party sellers on its online marketplace have seen an average 50% increase in gross merchandise value (GMV) after moving their items to WFS. Entering Chile: In addition to the existing markets of Canada, Mexico and the United States, Walmart will open its third-party marketplace in Chile to eligible cross-border sellers early next year. Marketing Function Brand Stores and Brand Shelves: With the Brand Stores feature, sellers can create their own online storefronts while easily creating their own featured pages. While Brand Shelves allow sellers to build shelves, display carefully curated products, or try selling tuberous collections. Virtual Garage: The new Virtual Garage feature on Walmart.com and the Walmart app allows customers to store details for multiple vehicles. The feature also connects to the service appointment scheduling feature in Walmart’s Auto Care Centers. When customers use the feature, they can easily shop Walmart’s entire automotive portfolio, including products from third-party sellers. Walmart offers incentives to third-party sellers Walmart has introduced many incentives to attract and reward new sellers. In January, the retail giant launched a limited-time program called "New Seller Offers," which allows new sellers in the U.S. marketplace to enjoy up to 25% commission reductions for 90 days while trying out Walmart marketplace tools and services. In June, Walmart partnered with Onramp, an Austin, Texas-based e-commerce financing specialist, to provide flexible loan options to independent sellers and small retailers on Walmart Marketplace. In order to compete with Amazon's third-party market, Walmart has launched many new seller support policies. So far, Amazon has provided at least 150 tools and services for third-party sellers, and Walmart is constantly catching up.
