USPS Launches Connect eCommerce Service to Simplify Pricing and Shipping for Sellers

According to foreign media reports, USPS (United States Postal Service) recently announced the launch of USPS Connect eCommerce service for online sellers. This new service provides accelerated agreement process, integrated Postal Service or PC Postage software, and aims to help sellers simplify pricing and shipping process, as well as provide discounts to customers.

For online marketplaces, USPS Connect e-commerce services support the platform’s access to rates through the Postal Service API, manifest systems and PC Postage software, providing targeted shipping rates and shipping discounts, according to the USPS.

In addition, for sellers, sellers can get discounts, no minimum quantity commitment, free package pickup service, free Saturday delivery, no fuel surcharge and no delivery surcharge by participating in the platform. There is no additional fee for address correction or package returned due to undeliverable for certain products (but some products have restrictions).

“The USPS Connect eCommerce service is designed to make it easier for online marketplaces and shipping platforms to work directly with the Postal Service and offer discounted rates to their customers, especially small businesses that are frustrated by high shipping costs from FedEx, UPS and others,” said Jacqueline Krage Strako, a USPS spokesperson.

It is understood that the new e-commerce service is an extension of the USPS Connect program, which was first launched in Texas in 2021 and will be promoted nationwide this year. Under the program, USPS also launched USPS Connect Local, USPS Connect Regional, USPS Connect National and USPS Connect Returns.
