The top three apps by downloads during the 2021 US holiday shopping season: Amazon, Walmart, and Target!

More than half (55%) of U.S. online consumers downloaded at least one new shopping app before the holidays, according to a report from Digital Turbine.

The most downloaded shopping apps during this year's holiday shopping season included Amazon, Walmart and Target. In addition, other apps such as Nike, Etsy, Poshmark and Fetch Rewards are also climbing. The report pointed out that Sam's Club and eBay are shopping apps with low consumer willingness to install, but high consumer awareness in use.

The research survey is similar to the trend of holiday shopping last year. The report of Sensor Tower StoreIntelligence found that Walmart and Amazon were the most downloaded shopping apps during Black Friday last year. Another report released by Apptopia at the beginning of the year found that Amazon, Walmart and Wish were the three most downloaded apps by US consumers in 2020.

Research shows that consumers are increasingly inclined to shop through mobile apps, especially younger consumers. Data shows that young consumers' interactions with shopping apps increased by 40% in 2020.

In terms of social software, a report from Brightpearl.com found that among Generation Z, the most popular social software during this holiday shopping season were Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube.
