Walmart is betting on children's clothing! It is accelerating its pace to compete with Amazon for the US clothing market!

It is learned that according to PYMNTS data, since the beginning of 2020, Walmart's apparel market share has only briefly surged in the spring and early summer of 2020 after the outbreak of the new crown, and then fell to its lowest point in the second quarter of 2021.

In an attempt to compete with Amazon in the clothing sector, Walmart is trying to expand its share of the U.S. clothing market through new clothing lines and cooperation. To this end, Walmart's ambitions in the clothing sector are increasingly focused on young consumers, especially targeting the U.S. children's market.

Walmart's new Free Assembly Kids line, launched last week, includes nearly 50 styles priced between $6 and $36. The line helps Walmart compete with Target's Cat & Jack line, Kohl's, Old Navy and other categories of children's clothing. Walmart also strengthened its partnership with clothing brand Justice to add clothing and accessories to Walmart.com and about half of the retailer's physical stores.

Walmart has also beefed up its adult apparel offerings over the past year, launching the Free Assembly men's and women's clothing line last September and hiring A-list celebrity designer Brandon Maxwell as creative director for two of its in-house private-label brands.


AMZ1223 learned that in order to compete for the US apparel market, Amazon has also taken strategic initiatives in the past few years to meet the consumption needs of buyers, including the launch of Amazon Prime Wardrobe and personal shopping services.
