It is learned that American grocery giant Albertsons announced on Thursday that it will cooperate with Pinterest (the world's largest social image sharing website) to allow customers to add recipe ingredients they find on Pinterest directly to the shopping cart of the Albertsons app.
The supermarket chain will also use Pinterest's technology to recommend meal options to shoppers based on their searches, favorite items and purchase history.
Albertsons' partnership with Pinterest is one of a series of steps the grocer is taking to strengthen its e-commerce business. The announcement comes a day after Albertsons reached an agreement with video site Firework to launch shoppable videos to attract more online consumers.
Additionally, earlier this week, Albertsons began testing a new service with food delivery company DoorDash that allows shoppers to bundle orders from local restaurants and convenience stores and have them delivered simultaneously while shopping at Albertsons stores.
In March, Albertsons reached an agreement with Google to use services such as Google Search and Google Maps to reach online consumers.
