Founder Introduction

Demet Mutlu, the founder of Trendyol, was born in 1981. She founded the website on her dorm dining table while studying for an MBA at Harvard Business School in 2010. She then dropped out of Harvard and returned to Turkey to build a team and focus on developing her e-commerce business.

Main Products

Trendyol sells top global and national brands as well as private labels, including women's products, men's products, children's products, sports, shoes, accessories, home electronics and more.

Financing

In 2011, Trendyol received a $40 million investment from well-known investment institutions Tiger Global and KPCB, which was the highest venture capital received by a Turkish Internet company at the time. Demet Mutlu also became the first female entrepreneur in Turkey to receive venture capital.

In September 2014, the company received investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

In August 2018, Alibaba Group acquired a majority stake in Turkish e-commerce company Trendyol, valuing the company at at least $750 million.
