In August 2016, Quora launched a Spanish version.

In early 2017, Quora added a French version.

In May 2017, a beta version was launched in German and Italian.

A Japanese beta version was launched in September 2017.

In April 2018, Beta versions were launched in Hindi, Portuguese, and Indonesian.

Additionally, additional versions in Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish and Dutch are planned.

Quora was founded in June 2009 by former Facebook employees Charlie Cheever and Adam D'Angelo. It launched a beta version in December 2009, began internal testing in January 2010, and was opened to the public on June 21, 2010.

In June 2011, Quora redesigned the navigation and usability of its website.

On September 30, 2011, Quora launched the iPhone version.

In September 2012, Quora launched its first Android app.

In January 2013, Quora launched a blogging platform that allows users to post non-answer content on their profiles.

On March 20, 2013, Quora launched full-text search of questions and answers on its website.

In November 2013, Quora launched a feature called Statistics, which allows all Quora users to view summary and detailed statistics about how many people viewed, upvoted, and shared their questions and answers.

In March 2016, Quora acquired the online community site Parlio.

In September 2018, Quora claimed to have 300 million monthly users.

In December 2018, Quora announced that approximately 100 million user accounts were affected by a data breach.

Financing

In March 2010, it received $11 million in investment from Benchmack Capital with a valuation of $86 million.

In May 2012, Quora raised $50 million in its second round of financing, with a company valuation of $400 million. Facebook director Peter Thiel defeated many investors including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers to become the largest investor in this round of financing. Other investors who participated in this round of financing included Josh Hannah of Matrix and Jonathan Heiliger of Northbridge.

In April 2014, it raised $80 million in Series C funding from Tiger Global at a valuation of approximately $900 million.

In April 2017, Quora raised $85 million in its Series D round of financing, led by startup incubator Y Combinator and Collaborative Fund.
