You can’t upload products without filing! Amazon has another “pitfall” policy, and these sellers are crying

It’s said that there are a lot of things to do at the end of the year, and it’s really true. Look, Amazon has "cheated" another wave of sellers at the last moment of 2019 .

Multiple sellers upload product errors

Recently, an Amazon seller reported to Xiaozhi that he kept getting errors when uploading products, and was prompted that brand registration was required.

A seller posted on the forum that he encountered the same situation. It is reported that this seller had just registered a North American account and kept getting errors when uploading products.

So he went to customer service, and the customer service responded as follows:

According to the customer service, the seller changed the brand name to N/A. Although it can be submitted, the backend still cannot display the product, which means that it has not been uploaded successfully. During this period, many upcs were changed and the brand name was also changed, but it still didn't work. Either it cannot be displayed or an error is reported.

According to Xiaozhi, a large number of sellers have encountered such problems recently.

As we all know, a store does not need brand registration to list products normally. Now, it appears that products cannot be listed without brand registration. What is going on?

It turned out that it was the brother-in-law who was making trouble behind the scenes again.

Amazon updates its brand policy

On December 12 , Amazon updated a policy that disgusts sellers. Listings without brand registration cannot fill in brand names at will.

Translated:

Amazon said:

Customers make wise purchasing decisions based on detailed page information such as brand names, and accurate brand information will help customers find and evaluate the corresponding products when shopping. Therefore, the brand attribute on the listing should be consistent with the brand name of the product. If the listing does not belong to any brand, the brand attribute should be filled in as "N/A" . For example, AmazonBasics products should always display "by AmazonBasics" on the product detail page.

From this updated “Brand Policy”, we can see that Amazon requires sellers to provide a correct and valid brand name, and unbranded products must fill in “ N/A ” in the “Brand Name” column.

At first glance, there is nothing wrong with this. After all, the brand route is what Amazon advocates and is indispensable for future refined operations. But in actual operation, this policy can be said to be full of pitfalls !

What are the pitfalls of brand policy changes?

1. Filling in " N/A " will turn it into a "three-no product"

From the seller’s feedback, we can see that if the brand filled in the “Brand Name” column has not been registered, an error will be reported and the product cannot be uploaded. If you follow Amazon’s rules and fill in “ N/A ” product, it will be displayed under the front-end title “ by Unbranded ”, which means “unbranded product”.

This is just like those "three-no products " on Taobao. Who would dare to buy them ? This will definitely have a great impact on the product's traffic and conversion.

2. The authenticity of brand registration cannot be identified

Amazon updated this policy to prevent counterfeit products pretending to be well-known brands and prevent their products from being put on the shelves. But in reality, Xiaozhi found that even if the brand registered is different from the real brand of the product, Amazon cannot recognize it !

3. Sellers with brands that have not been registered cannot upload products

As we all know, brand registration is not easy. Many small sellers simply cannot afford it. Many sellers have brand names but have not registered trademarks or registered them. After this policy update, they all encountered errors and were unable to upload products.

Is brand policy update a blessing or a curse?

Many sellers left messages saying that the days of just filling in a brand name are probably gone forever .

Some sellers said that their listings were banned due to this policy .

Some sellers also said that spring has come for sellers with brand registration...

Indeed, after the policy update, the sellers who sell knockoffs will be the most hurt. After all, it will be more difficult to put fake and inferior products on the shelves, which is a fatal blow to them. However, sellers with brand registration are blessed . This policy update shows that Amazon pays more and more attention to brands. After sellers register their brands, they will find that there will be advantages such as A+ and Amazon attribution .

What should sellers do?

Since the policy has been issued, it is impossible for my brother-in-law to take it back. What is the most important thing? In the face of the situation where an error is reported when a product is listed without brand registration, what are the solutions?

1. You can try other brand names first, and then change to your own brand in AB format (changing the brand name has been tested and effective by the seller);

2. If other brand names don’t work, you can try well-known brands of big sellers, but remember that the quantity must be 0;

3. Use N/X format;

4. If none of the above methods work, you can use the method of following sales. The specific operation is: find an account A that can upload the product, and then use account B to follow sales. After following sales, delete this ASIN in store A, and account B will naturally get the editing rights of this ASIN.

5. Some sellers stated that the reason for the error was that the brand name used for listing had been protected by Amazon, and Amazon restricted the creation of new listings to prevent the brand from being abused by other sellers.
Solution : Open a case and inform Amazon to request to be added to the brand whitelist, and provide products with LOGO. If your brand is in the process of applying and has a receipt, you must also attach the PDF file. In this way, Amazon will add your brand to the whitelist and you can upload products.

It should be noted that the failure to upload a product may not necessarily be a problem with the brand, but may be because the product is restricted from sale. In addition, brands that have run into the Transparency Program may also fail to upload , so specific issues need to be analyzed specifically.

Finally, what I want to say is that as the market matures, Amazon is increasingly inclined to brand development, so it is very necessary to register your brand as soon as possible .
