It is learned that according to a survey of more than 1,000 Canadian consumers conducted by market research company GetApp, with the rapid development of e-commerce, more and more Canadians are worried about payment security when shopping.
A survey from GetApp found that currently, 59% of Canadian consumers frequently shop on marketplaces such as Amazon; 46% of consumers frequently shop on brand websites; and 35% of consumers frequently shop on second-hand marketplaces such as Craigslist or Kijiji.
In terms of shopping methods, 48% of Canadian consumers use desktop computers for online shopping, 43% use mobile phones, and tablets are least likely to be used, at 9%.
In addition, in terms of payment methods, credit cards (76%) are the preferred payment method for Canadian consumers, followed by PayPal (52%) and debit cards (31%). It is worth noting that 67% of consumers believe that receiving a confirmation email from the seller after purchase can improve their online shopping experience.
According to a survey by GetApp, the top three issues Canadian consumers are most concerned about when it comes to payments are: fraud (83%); hacker attacks (82%); and extra fees (37%). Currently, the vast majority of consumers (92%) still express concerns about the security of online shopping. Among them, 54% feel "slightly" concerned and 11% feel "severely" concerned.
The GetApp study also showed that some Canadian consumers have reduced their online shopping frequency due to fraud (29%) and hacker attacks (26%). It can be seen that security has become an important factor in determining whether Canadians shop online.
Currently, when shopping online, 56% of Canadian consumers will choose shopping platforms they are familiar with and trust, 45% of consumers will judge based on the reputation of the store, 40% of consumers will check whether the website has SSL encryption, and 40% of consumers will make purchase decisions based on customer reviews. In addition, some consumers will also use ad blockers and antivirus software to provide online shopping security.
