It is learned that according to foreign media reports, the US online grocery retailer Weee! received $425 million in Series E financing led by SoftBank Vision Fund. Greyhound Capital and existing investors also participated in this round of financing.
The company plans to use the funds to advance warehouse automation and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, expand its platform to new ethnic groups, and expand grocery and food delivery services to other regions.
Currently, Weee! has expanded its market to China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, India and Central America, and adds more than 500 products every week. In addition, the company has also cooperated with more than 1,000 restaurants to provide customers with dining services at home. Data shows that the current U.S. ethnic grocery and food market is worth more than $36 billion.
It is reported that since its establishment in 2015, Weee! has raised more than US$800 million in funding from companies such as Arena Holdings, Blackstone, DSTGlobal, Goodwater Capital, Greyhound Capital, iFly.vc, Lightspeed Ventures, SoftBank VisionFundII, Tiger Global, VMG and XVC.
