About the Team

AImotive ’s team currently has over 220 members. The company has offices in Mountain View, California, and Yokohama, Japan. Most of AImotive ’s development happens at our headquarters in Budapest, where a team of 150 highly skilled engineers is responsible for our work. Among them are over 30 professional AI researchers, and over 20 members of our team hold Ph.D.s.

Financing

In March 2015 , AImotive received US$ 2.5 million in Series A financing from investors including Tamares , Robert Bosch Venture Capital , PortfoLion , Nvidia ( NASDAQ:NVDA ), Inventure Oy , Draper Associates , and Day One Capital Fund Management .

In March 2016 , AImotive received $ 6 million in Series B financing from investors including Tamares , Robert Bosch Venture Capital , PortfoLion , Inventure Oy , Draper Associates , and Day One Capital Fund Management .

In January 2018 , AImotive completed a $ 38 million financing round from B Capital Group and Prime Ventures , which will be used to expand AImotive's global business and accelerate the development of autonomous driving software through simulation technology. Other investors in this round of financing include Cisco Investments, Samsung Catalyst Fund, Robert Bosch Venture Capital , Inventure , Draper Associates and Day One Capital .

Development History

In 2003 , Laszlo Kishonti founded Kishonti , a computer vision technology research and development company, which provides computing performance analysis and optimization services to companies in the field of visual computing. Its customers include several NASDAQ Fortune 100 semiconductor research and development companies.

In 2009, Kishonti released NaviGenie , a real-time navigation application that supports offline use , and won third place in the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge that year.

In 2015 , the research team received $ 2.5 million in Series A funding from Nvidia , Bosch Venture Capital and other institutions , and officially separated from Kishonti to form AdasWorks , headquartered in Budapest, Hungary.

In early 2016, BlackBerry's subsidiary QNX announced a partnership with AdasWorks . Several functions of AdasWorks , including lane recognition, moving object recognition and object classification, were ported to the QNX OS platform. By integrating the technologies of both parties, driving assistance technology and autonomous driving technology were developed.

In September 2016 , AImotive established its first overseas office in Mountain View, California, marking its official entry into the U.S. autonomous driving market.

At the CES show in early 2017 , AImotive took a very important step since the company was founded and demonstrated its latest autonomous driving kit - aiDrive .

On June 30, 2017 , the company finally obtained the 36th autonomous vehicle road test license issued by the California Department of Transportation .

In the summer of 2017, the company began testing fleets in Hungary, France and California, USA.
