How it works

Matomo must be installed on a server with PHP and MySQL. At the end of the 5 minute installation, Matomo (Piwik) will provide you with a Javascript tag that you can add to the bottom of every page of your website. Matomo will then log activity on your site in its database. Matomo aggregates this data to provide detailed web analytics reports on visitors, page views, referrer information, search engine keywords, e-commerce, campaigns, and more!

It is free, but some plugins are charged. Matomo is also highly customizable, and if you need more features, it also provides 70 plugins for you to choose from. For companies that focus on privacy, Matomo is a good analysis tool.
