The official review channel has been shut down! Amazon's early reviewer program is about to be closed!

For Amazon sellers, if there are no reviews for new products at the beginning of their launch, they will lack competitiveness compared to similar mature competing products, and it will not be conducive to product conversion. The importance of reviews for listings is self-evident. Even in the context of Amazon's severe crackdown on fake orders, countless sellers are still flocking to them.

However, as Amazon's risk control becomes increasingly strict, there are many sellers who have been blocked or warned for reviewing, and the road to reviewing has become increasingly difficult. In addition, the quality of various review channels on the market varies, and the risks are high, which poses a hidden danger to the security of the account. Therefore, many sellers will try to register for the official early reviewer program to obtain the initial review basis.

But now, Amazon is closing even this official channel, and the sellers’ evaluation path seems to be blocked.

Yesterday afternoon, a post was widely circulated in the Amazon seller group. The content of the post showed that after verification, the early reviewers will stop, and no new applications will be accepted after March 5, and all will stop on April 20. A screenshot of the seller's communication with Amazon customer service was attached, and the customer service also confirmed the news to the seller.

For a while, the sellers were in an uproar, unable to believe it was true, so they opened cases with customer service to inquire about the truth of the matter.

As more and more sellers asked Amazon customer service and received the same response, the news was confirmed to be an official notification from Amazon.

Some sellers also directly sent Amazon's original notice, which reads as follows:

About the Early Reviewer Program

The Early Reviewer Program (ERP) is a program that encourages buyers who have purchased a product to share their real experiences through reviews. We will email 117,000 sellers to inform them that we will no longer allow new registrations for the Early Reviewer Program as of March 5, 2021, and will stop offering this service to sellers currently registered in the program on April 20, 2021. They will not have to pay any review fees for registered products posted after this date, and if the program does not generate any reviews for their business, there will be no service fee. For any registrations that have more than 1 review and are not completed before April 20, Amazon will refund the program fee within three months of the program closure date.

When?

March 5, 2021 – Mass Mail

March 5, 2021 – No new registrations allowed for the program

April 5, 2021 – The program will be discontinued

What is the impact for sellers ?

The ERP program will no longer allow new registrations on March 5, 2021, and will be discontinued on April 20, 2021.

At the same time, Amazon customer service also stated that it has not received any relevant notification as to whether Amazon will release similar features in the future, and the early reviewer programs for sites such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and India will be closed.

It is understood that the early reviewer program aims to encourage buyers who have purchased a certain product to share their real experiences through reviews, help new products get early reviews, help subsequent buyers make more informed purchasing decisions, and increase page views, ultimately increasing sales.

Amazon will give these selected early reviewers $1 to $3 shopping cards as a reward for writing reviews, thereby stimulating them to write authentic, reliable and well-illustrated reviews.

For small and medium-sized sellers, the Early Reviewer Program is one of the few legal ways to obtain reviews. It helps new products with potential but no reviews to gain traffic and conversions.

Regarding the "bad news" that this plan will be closed, the seller at this time just wants to sing a song: My cold account misses you like a river, and it turns into the balance in my brother-in-law's card~

Amazon is becoming increasingly difficult to use, which seems to be a consensus among sellers. In recent years, Amazon has made more and more frequent changes, but every update or revision will attract a lot of complaints, and this time is no exception.

"I have a black question mark face. What the hell, if they don't do the early stage, will they open other functions and supplement them?"

"It's getting harder and harder to review. What should sellers do?"

“It’s so unethical to force everyone to do reviews. It’s really hard for small sellers.”

Some sellers said that the closure of this program was a fatal blow to new products, as there will be one less reliable evaluation channel in the future.

Some sellers also speculated that the early reviewer program was too useless and not many sellers used it, so Amazon could not "suck blood" from it and simply gave up.
