text
Recently, Amazon announced that it will update its product title policy, which will be implemented from January 21, 2025, to standardize listing requirements and improve the shopping experience.

01 Amazon’s new title rules are about to take effect

On January 3, Amazon officially released new product title requirements, which will take effect on January 21, 2025.

New Regulation Highlights:

  • Title length limit: The title must not exceed 200 characters (including spaces)

  • Restrict special characters: Special characters like !, $, ?, etc. are not allowed unless they are part of the brand name.

  • Repeated word limit: The same word may not appear more than twice in the title (excluding prepositions, articles and conjunctions).

  • 14-Day Revision Period: Brand owners will have 14 days to act on the recommendations, after which Amazon will update the title to comply with their requirements.

According to the compliance requirements of product titles, it is important to note that repeated keywords cannot appear in the title. This is very important!

02 Amazon will modify titles in large quantities starting from January 21

A large number of sellers have received notice that Amazon will modify the non-standard titles before January 21. If you do not change them, Amazon will make batch modifications for you, and the effect may be worse, so sellers must not ignore it!

If the seller does not make the changes, the consequence is that Amazon AI will make the changes directly for you. The AI modifications may not accurately reflect the brand value and may even cause semantic errors.

Some sellers said that when Amazon used AI to modify titles in the past, it actually reduced the quality of the listing and affected the brand image. It may even be modified incorrectly, affecting the inclusion of product keywords, etc. Therefore, it is recommended that sellers change the title before January 21.

Sellers’ suggestions:

  • Sellers should pay close attention to Amazon's policy updates and carefully read the specific requirements of the new policies.

  • Use the Manage All Inventory feature to promptly review and correct titles that do not comply with the new standards.

  • Brand owners should take Amazon’s suggested changes seriously and make adjustments within the specified time.

  • Strengthen internal training to ensure team members understand and comply with the requirements of the new policy.
