Anaconda is back! This time, Amazon sellers join forces to defeat it!

In the second half of last year, if we were to talk about any major events that happened in the Amazon seller circle, the VC Anaconda incident would definitely be one of the most important.

The incident was exposed by the sellers and followed up by major media outlets, which eventually alarmed Amazon officials. The officials took strong measures and have been cutting off VC supplier accounts again and again since the beginning of this year until they have disappeared.

This incident became the direct cause of the crushing of the VC account. Ordinary sellers who had suffered from being copied and tampered with by the VC account finally won.

The chaos of VC has calmed down now, but the water on Amazon is still not calm, because in essence this is still a malicious attack by abusing VC accounts to follow and tamper with competitors' products.

Although the VC account is dead, there are still many ways to maliciously attack opponents.

For example, everyone can think of malicious negative reviews and malicious complaints. It is difficult for Amazon’s own algorithm to distinguish malicious negative reviews/complaints. In addition, it is difficult to obtain evidence. Many sellers find it difficult to find who is attacking them, so both of these are very tricky incidents.

Today, there was a gratifying reversal. People who had been maliciously attacked by the same company united to fight back!

The whole story

Today, it was discovered that the product pages of multiple products of a 3C brand seller had been changed. The content of the pages was full of indignation from sellers who had been secretly attacked by this brand.

And even more products have their titles and five-point descriptions tampered with.

There was also a rather strange operation, in which the sales brand was changed to Apple, apparently in an attempt to trigger the infringement algorithm review.

▲Before being modified

▲After being modified

Now the main product page with more than 800 reviews has returned to normal, but other products with fewer reviews have not yet been fixed.

Judging from the exposed product page, this is a malicious attack by a seller of xx brand on other competitors in the industry, with all kinds of malicious complaints and bad reviews. The attacked sellers could no longer tolerate it, so they united and directly blasted various products under this brand seller.

I won’t go into detail about the means of blasting, but to put it simply, it is to use an account with higher permissions to obtain the editing rights of the product and make modifications . This is the same principle as using a VC account to tamper with the product in the VC Python incident, because VCs have higher permissions than ordinary sellers.

As of now, the attacked product page is being repaired, and the culprit has not come out to clarify or make a statement. Whether you stay calm or launch a counterattack, I will continue to pay attention to and report on this incident.

Although we are just watching the show, how can ordinary sellers know that they have been attacked maliciously? Below I have collected some common malicious attack methods for your reference.

Several common forms of malicious attacks

I will briefly classify them into the following categories.

1. Malicious complaints

Generally, the competitor purchased the product with an unrelated buyer account and filed a complaint directly with Amazon. The complaint may be about counterfeit goods, safety issues, or copyright infringement (copyright infringement complaints do not even require actual purchases).

These methods are low-cost, and even if sellers who have been maliciously attacked can appeal, their rankings and traffic will be affected. These are very disgusting and common methods.

2. Malicious bad/good reviews

Whether it is malicious negative reviews or positive reviews, it is actually not a good thing for the attacked product. Negative reviews will greatly affect traffic, rankings and conversions, while positive reviews may even be caught by Amazon's algorithm as fake orders.

3. Hijacking Listings

This is the method used by VC and this incident. Using a highly authorized account to change or follow the sale of the opponent's products can be used to tamper with the listing page to cause a sharp drop in the traffic of the opponent's products, and it can also be used to follow the sale of products and send high-quality imitations to customers, increasing the possibility of customers leaving real bad reviews.

These are summarized as some of the more common methods. When such situations occur, sellers can reduce losses by taking corresponding countermeasures in a timely manner.

I have collected countermeasures for various situations and compiled them into a malicious attack response skills package. You can scan the QR code to get it from me~
