Mercari opens new Japanese online platform Mercari x Japan to US buyers


It is learned that on August 1, according to foreign media reports, Japan's largest second-hand trading platform Mercari announced the launch of a new platform Mercari x Japan to connect Japanese sellers with the US market.


It is understood that Mercari will open direct access to the inventory of millions of sellers on its Japanese market to American users, and browse a large number of rare goods from Japan through Mercari x Japan, including fashion, toys, electronics and other categories. At the same time, Mercari will also open its first physical retail store, Mercari on Melrose, in Los Angeles to enhance the omni-channel shopping experience.


Mercari has partnered with Japanese e-commerce group BEENOS to simplify the shipping process. All products purchased from Japan will first be sent to BEENOS for inspection and preparation for international shipment, and will be delivered to buyers within about two weeks after shipment.


Data shows that in recent years, the demand for Japanese collectibles on Mercari's US site has increased significantly, with comics growing by 45%, Bandai products growing by 100%, and Sanrio brand products growing by 160%. John Lagerling, CEO of Mercari US, said that this launch is the first time Mercari has connected the US and Japanese markets, and enhancing cross-border shopping is a key step in Mercari's development into a truly seamless global market.
